20th Anniversary of Chescombe Trust and Opening Ceremony

Posted on Monday 13th February 2012

On the 14th December 2011 HRH The Princess Royal visited Chescombe Trust's new development in Patchway. She was supported on her tour of the homes  by  Kevin Johnson, the Executive Manager of the Trust , where  she spoke  to all of the residents and their family members who had joined us to celebrate the Opening of Chescombe and the 20th Anniversary of Chescombe Trust.

After touring the three homes the Princess was supported by Mr David Andrews, the Chairman of the Trust, who introduced her to the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, the Chairman of South Gloucestershire Council and the Mayor of Patchway.  She was then introduced to the Trustees and the assembled professional guests and benefactors.

She was then invited to present the 20 year service awards  of a Bristol Blue Glass Lily Vase  to  each of the five members of the staff, Colin Casling, Chris Cook, Jo Dodd, June Pritchard and Steve Webster-Green all of whom  were employed by the Trust when it was formed in 1991. They have worked hard throughout the past 20 years to support and care for the residents who live in the homes and to help the Trust establish and maintain its position in the provision of care for adults with Learning Difficulties.

Her Royal Highness then unveiled the commemorative plaque  and signed the visitors book before thanking everyone for the opportunity to visit the homes, saying goodbye and  departing.

Many families travelled hundreds of miles to attend the Ceremony and one mother came from Bermuda for the event, and I thank them for joining us on this special day.

We were also joined by a number of our generous benefactors and the professionals who played a very important part in processing the sale of Chescombe Lodge, the purchase of the land and the development of Chescombe.

The Trustees and their guests enjoyed the event and thanked everyone for attending and joining in with this special event. They particularly thanked the staff for all their hard work when supporting the residents to participate in the celebrations.

I hope you enjoy the photographs of this very special event  as much as we enjoyed the whole ceremony.
