Chescombe Trust uses a person centred approach to identify activities, which will be enjoyed by each individual. These activities may be occupational, educational or therapeutic. Wherever possible they take place in community settings with an appropriate level of support, which is identified through enabling risk assessment. There is sufficient space in Chescombe Lodge to support activities should they need to take place within the grounds. A Snoozlen (multi sensory room) has been set up in the house.
Activities, which have occurred, are:
- Day trips to places of interest
- Attendance of Further Education facilities for various courses.
- Cooking
- Gardening
- Crafts
- Cinema / theatre
- Swimming
- Horse riding
- Climbing Centre
- Work experience in a variety of settings
- Shopping
- Massage / beauty therapy
Chescombe Trust has two vans to support trips. Access to public transport is good and is used frequently.
The garden is large and is used well in good weather for relaxing, games and barbeques.
All staff are trained to National Occupational Standards. Many have a number of year’s experience, and long term working relationships with people who use the service and their families.
We work closely with other agencies, such as G.P.s, Dentists, Psychologists, Therapists and other health professionals to provide appropriate support for service users.
