  1. Job Description Summary
    • The senior support worker is responsible to, the Home Manager, or any other Designated Manager
    • The senior Support worker will carry out duties for their area of responsibility
    • The Senior support worker shall ensure site compliance with all regulations and legislation as laid out in the Care standards Act and any other Legislation associated with care under guidance from the Home Manager
    • The Senior Support will be responsible for the safe running of the home in the absence of the Home Manager and Deputy Manager.


  1. House Duties and Responsibilities
    • Ensure the Quality of the service and the care provided meets with regulations and legislation described in the Care Standards Act
    • Support the Home Manager and the Deputy Manager to ensure efficient administration of the home, including adequate records including preparation for CQC inspections .Ensure the relevant authorities are informed of any safeguarding incidents
    • Support staff to resolve Safeguarding incidents and to ensure all residents and staff are supported and as safe as possible.
    • Support Managers to liaise closely with the local Authority Safeguarding team, ensuring they have all the relevant information required to ensure minimal risk to the residents and the public
    • Ensure the Manager is aware of all significant safeguarding issues, and put plans in place to resolve them.
    • Support the Manager to ensure Health and Safety at work and fire regulations and procedures are adhered to.
    • Address any shortfalls in the quality of care delivered
    • Support the Manager to ensure the area of responsibility complies with Legislation and regulation that are applicable to its overall operations


  1. Resident Responsibilities
    • To assist service users for whom you are supporting in maintaining the highest possible standard of personal appearance and Hygiene
    • To provide care and supervision for people in you support to enable them to develop, and to maintain the development of their potential
    • To assist residents you support to develop skills to the maximum of their potential
    • To maintain up to date records of work and individual plans of residents. To prepare written reports on residents for the manager.
    • To take part in meetings related to your role
    • To assist residents to develop personal life skills either at home, in the community or in any way appropriate to their needs
    • It will be expected to support the residents on trips and over
    • To act as Key Worker for the residents, ensuring that contact is maintained with parents, relatives, significant others and relevant services.
    • To ensure residents receive appropriate medical treatment when necessary and that medication is administered as prescribed.
    • To assist the manager in the general administration of the Home, and to ensure a good standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas.
    • To participate in training as agreed by the manager, subject to statutory and company training policy
    • To ensure that you act in accordance with statutory and company Health and Safety Regulation


  1. Staff Responsibilities
    • To carry out such other duties as are required and are commensurate with the post of Senior Support Worker i.e. carrying out domestic chores to maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the home
    • Conduct and maintain regular Supervision/Appraisal
    • Support the House Managers to maintain and develop the expertise and skills of staff employed, in line with the skills for care training requirements. Ensure all staff have undertaken appropriate training and receive the necessary support.
    • Ensure the policies and procedures exist and are readily accessible to all staff
    • Respond positively/proactively to any concerns or complaints raised, promoting whistleblowing with an honest and open approach
    • Available on a call out system in case of emergency
