Visiting during Covid.

All you need to know when visiting your
loved one during the Pandemic.

Our visiting policy has been
updated for Covid.

We are still a COVID free site and this is due to our
infection control measures and hard work of our staff.

Following the advice set out by the Government and local authority guidance we can publish our policy for limited service user visits.

This policy is subject to dynamic risk assessment and may change at short notice

I must state that our priority is to prevent infection in our home.

Physical visiting will be restricted to essential visits at the discretion of the house manager.

We are not be able to accept unannounced visits and ask that you contact the relevant house manager to discuss the visit and make booking arrangements.

We want to avoid the use of service users’ bedrooms and communal indoor areas for visits.

Visits are encouraged to take place outdoors. We have an easily accessible area at the rear of our premises set aside with table and chairs.

We also have Little Stoke Park that is nearby [see below map – car park marked in yellow].

In the event inclement weather, we may be able to utilise the on- site training room.

During visits please do not encourage physical contact and try to maintain the 2 metres social distance.

For all indoor, and outdoor visits where social distancing cannot be observed or where physical contact is likely then the donning of PPE may be necessary.

We ask that where possible you look to provide your own PPE due to the current national shortage.

We ask that all visits/ video calls are kept to a reasonable time and duration as they have an impact upon other service users, staff and running of the home.

We ask that any physical visit consists of one visitor and that this person is consistent.

Visiting Calls

We are encouraging the use of face-to-face video communication.

Staff are happy to assist with applications such as Facetime and Zoom to encourage socialisation. This is already being used successfully with some of our residents and family.

Procedure Prior to Visit

We have introduced a COVID-19 visitor symptom checker.

This consists of a short questionnaire, visitor temperature check and details required for track and trace.

If you are feeling unwell or presenting with any COVID like symptoms, then please postpone the visit.

In the event of COVID-19 on site or local lockdown then all visits will be suspended.

Staying Overnight / Home Visits

At the present time because of the need to maintain social distancing and provide personal care we are not able to support visits to family homes.

We hope you understand the need for this policy as protecting the health and wellbeing of our service users and staff is paramount.
